Packing
When returning heavy, delicate, and expensive equipment, it must be carefully packed in
order to avoid damage caused by normal transportation dynamics. In other words, if you
put your IC-756PRO, TS-2000 or AL-1500 in a box with little or no packing beneath it,
chances are it will sustain some damage. When contents of packages are damaged, claims
will be paid only if the carton and packing meet standards set in the International Safe
Transit Association Procedure 1 and 1-A. These standards simply state that cartons and
packing should provide reasonable protection to their contents. Ideally, contents should
be suspended in the center of the carton by the packing material, no less than three inches on all sides for heavy items. For items heavier than 20 pounds, three inches of foam or
crumpled paper should be used instead of polystyrene edge protectors.
Include information
When you send your well-packed parcel to AES for repair, return or trade-in, be sure to
include a letter inside the package. Do not rely on information written or taped on the
outside of the carton. This information can be destroyed by moisture or abrasion. In the
letter, put your call, name, address, phone and reason for return. You may also want to
include your e-mail address and times you can be reached via telephone.
Dim Weight
When calculating the cost of Air Shipments, whether Fed-Ex, UPS or other carrier, they
use Dimensional (Dim) weight to insure adequate revenues per cubic foot of cargo plane
space. The illustration above shows how to calculate the Dim weight for both Domestic
and International shipments. For example: a 12"x13"x16" box that weighs 6 pounds will
be sent at the 12 pound rate via Domestic Air.
TRACKING NUMBERS for out-bound shipments are gladly
given. Call our local number, 414-358-0333, and ask for
our Tracking Number Service.
