A candidate for a bachelor's degree

California
State
University
system shall complete a minimum of 48

general
education
courses.
A
student may
complete
a
maximum of 39 of the 48 required units at
Antelope Valley College. In addition to
these 39 units of lower division general
education courses, students must complete
9 units of upper division course work at a
California State University campus. AVC
will certify general education for students
who
meet
the
12
units
residency
requirement of Antelope Valley College.
No more than 30 units may be certified in
categories B, C, and D. No class may be
used to satisfy requirements in

Involving Maximum
Suspensions
College Appeals Committee
Should the Vice-President of Student
Services wish to recommend the suspension
of a student for a period of more than 10
days, the case must be heard by the College
Appeals Committee. It is the responsibility
of the Vice-president of Student Services
to assist the student throughout due process
phase. The procedures to be followed are
outlined below.
(a) The Vice-President of Student Services
will prepare a written statement of the
specific charges against the student. A
copy of the charges will be given to the
student, and a copy will be filed with the
College Appeals Committee.
(b) The student being recommended for
suspension must file with the College
Appeals Committee an outline of how
he will present his case at the hearing.

principles of art and the elements of design
that are essential to all art forms from the
earliest of cultures to the art of today.
Introduction to the principles, theories, and
techniques of 2-dimensional painting in
acrylic, oil, or alkyd. Emphasis is on the
organization of subject matter in terms of
composition and individual interpretation.
