Computer Graphics 103 Definition The Computer Graphics program is directed toward providing individual artistic development with an emphasis on the students ability to use computer technology to create graphic and photographic images. The Degree and Vocational Program have received official approval from the Chancellors office. Distinctive Features Computer graphics courses are directed toward vocational and artistic application of the acquired skills within each of the designated areas. Career Options Computer Artist Computer Graphics Illustrator Computer Publishing Computer Photographic Imaging Computer Presentation Specialist Computer Video Artist (Some of these careers may require education beyond the two-year college level.) Specialist Certificate Program There are two certificate programs, 1) Computer Graphics and 2) Electronic Publishing Design. Computer Graphics The following courses (24 units) are required for the certificate: ART 3ABR2, Drawing (3) ART 9ABR2, Computer Graphics (3) ART 9CDR2, Advanced Computer ART 13ABR2, Introduction to Graphics (3) Electronic Presentations (3) or ART 14ABR2, Introduction to Computer Illustration (3) Hypercard Development (3) or ART 18R2, Introduction to Video/ Computer Video Production (3) Computer-Photographic Imaging (3) or ART 30, Advanced Chemical/ Computer Photographic Imaging (3) Electives: Three units are required from each of the 2 following sections. ART 15ABR2, Introduction to ART 16ABR2, Introduction to Section 1: Three units are required from any of the ART 4ABR2, Advanced Drawing (3) ART 8ABR2, Illustration (3) or ART ART 46AR2, Design and Color (3) following courses: 8CDR2, Intermediate Illustration (3) Section 2: Three units are required from any of the following courses: ART 13ABR2, Introduction to Electronic Presentations (3) ART 14ABR2, Introduction to Computer Illustration (3) ART 16ABR2, Introduction to Computer-Photographic Imaging (3) ART 17ABR2, Introduction to Computer Newspaper/Magazine Productions (3) ART 18R2, Introduction to Video/ Computer Video Production (3) ART 30ABR2, Advanced Chemical/ Computer Photographic Imaging (3) ART 36ABR2 or ART 36CDR2, Photography (3) Electronic Publishing Design The following (21 units) are required for the certificate: ART 3ABR2, Drawing (3) ART 9ABR2, Computer Graphics (3) ART 10ABR2, Computer for Publishing (3) ART 10CDR2, Intermediate Computer for Publishing (3) or ART 17ABR2, Introduction to Computer Newspaper/ Magazine Productions (3) Compute-Photographic Imaging (3) or ART 30ABR2, Advanced Chemical/Computer Photographic Imaging (3) Electives: Three units are required from each of the 2 following sections. ART 16ABR2, Introduction to Section 1: Three units are required from any of the ART 4ABR2, Advanced Drawing (3) ART 8ABR2, Illustration (3) or ART following courses: 8CDR2, Intermediate Illustration (3) Section 2: Three units are required from any of the following courses: ART 9CDR2, Advanced Computer Graphics (3) ART 17ABR2, Introduction to Computer Newspaper/Magazine Productions (3) ART 36ABR2 or ART 36CDR2, Photography (3) Associate Degree An associate degree with a major in Computer Graphics is available. The major requirements are listed below. (See Graduation/Associate Degree Requirements.) Computer Graphics Major The Computer Graphics major is designed to give art students an in-depth understanding of the various processes involved in the use of computer and related technologies for creation of graphic and photographic images. A minimum of 33 units are needed. Thirty units are required core courses. Three units are breadth requirements to reflect additional background in the area of study.
