A broad-based introduction to the multiple elements of commercial presentation using the microcomputer. This course is designed to provide a basic foundation in the use of electronic presentation techniques for developing presentation notes, audience handouts, flipchart presentations, black and white trans- parencies, color transparencies, and the production of 35mm slides. (CSU, AVC) ART 14ABR2 *INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER ILLUSTRATION 3 units 6 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 51BR2 and basic computer skills. Instructional materials fee required for this course and must be paid at registration. A broad-based introduction to the multiple elements of commercial illustration using microcomputers. This course is designed to provide a basic foundation in the use of computer techniques including color paint and draw programs for the production of commercial illustrations, logos, brochures, etc. Included within the course are the use of video input, slide image transfer, gray scale scanners and color graphic printers, special graphic-text processing, and output production devices such as laser and thermal image printers. An introduction to and the continuing study of the multiple elements of Hypercard programming using the Macintosh microcomputer. This course is designed to provide a basic foundation and intermediate knowledge in the use of the HyperTalk language techniques. This course is designed to provide a basic foundation in the use of photographic manipulation using various software programs. (CSU, AVC) COMPUTER- ART 17ABR2 *INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER NEWSPAPER/ MAGAZINE PRODUCTIONS 3 units 6 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 51BR2 and basic computer skills. The course is designed to provide students with an advanced knowledge of electronic publishing through hands -on experience in the use of computer techniques using the Macintosh computer in publishing of newspapers, magazines, newsletters, and books. Students will develop advanced skills in the use of electronic photographic imaging, computer illustration, desktop publishing, Hypercard, and halftone and line photography. Instructional materials fee required for this course and must be paid at registration. An introduction to the multiple uses of video with practical hands-on experience. Integrating the capability of producing computer animated graphics with video to create a professional looking video show. This introductory course will provide the fundamental skills required to produce a video tape. Through lectures, demonstrations, and hands -on instruc tion, students will learn the basics of directing, producing, script writing, graphic story boarding, video cameras and recorders, lighting techniques, editing, and special effects. The class also offers a unique combination of media with Macintosh computers used for generating animated computer graphics to record onto video. These computer generated images can be used as titles, credits, or as full animated features. (CSU, AVC) ART 30ABR2 *ADVANCED CHEMICAL/COMPUTER PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGING 3 units 6 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 51BR2 and basic computer skills. Instructional materials fee required for this course and must be paid at registration. The class focuses on advanced photographic techniques associated with chemical and computer color imaging.
