Construction Technology 107 CNST TEC 61C COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN Same Course as ENGR 41. 3 units 6 hours weekly Prerequisite: Completion of ENGR 19. Advisory: Cornpletion of CIS 40 and Eligibility for ENGL 50BR4 and ENGL 51BR2. This is the first course in computer assisted drafting and design (CADD). This course utilizes CADD in designing and modifying technical drawings. The course emphasizes basic technology skills which are necessary to function as an entry level CADD operator. (CSU, AVC) CNST TEC 62 *CONSTRUCTION COST ESTIMATING 3 units 3 hours weekly Advisory: Completion of CNST TEC 40 and Eligibility for ENGL 50BR4, ENGL 51BR2 and MATH A and general contracting experience. This course will introduce the student to the reading and interpreting of specifications for building construction. The methods of preparing cost estimates using quantity surveys of materials and equipment as shown on construction drawings will be used. All parts of a sound specification will be considered, including the building function, construction material requirements, electrical installations, plumbing, heating and ventilating, and special requirements. The course will concern itself mainly with problems relating to home construction; however, a brief survey of the special considerations involved in commercial, industrial and institutional buildings will be included. (AVC) CNST TEC 63 *UNIFORM BUILDING CODES AND PLAN REVIEW 3 units 3 hours weekly Advisory: Completion of CNST TEC 40 and Eligibility for ENGL 50BR4, ENGL 51BR2 and MATH A and general contracting experience. A study of the Uniform Building Codes (UBC). Course content includes code enforcement, permit processing, and building design requirements. Students will also understand how to read construction drawings and conduct plan review of simple residential and commercial projects. (AVC)
