Page 110 of Antelope Valley College 1995-1996 Catalog by Antelope Valley Community College Lancaster California108 Disabled Student Services Definition The Disabled Student Services Program is designed to provide support services on an individual basis to our learning disabled, physically disabled, and psychologically disabled students, so as to maximize their learning experience. Some of our support services are: preregistration, counseling, notetakers, readers, specialized tutoring, equipment loan, and interpreting. The philosophy of the Disabled Student Services program is to integrate disabled students into regular classes. However, an Adaptive Physical Education (PE 1) class is available for students who have physical limitations and want to participate in an exercise program, including swimming and weight training. The Disabled Students Services program has extensive computer software and a Kurzweil Reader available in the Learning Disability Lab/ High Tech Center. To enroll in the PE 1 class, students should contact the Disabled Student Services office in the Student Services Center.
