114 Electronics ELECT 72 *ELECTRONIC TEST INSTRUMENTS 3 units 3 hours weekly Prerequisite: Completion of ELECT 40B, ELECT 60B, or ELECT 62B. Practical theory and troubleshooting in electronic test instruments. Includes signal generators, oscilloscopes, frequency-measuring instruments. Ohmmeters, counters and timers, radiation instruments. (AVC) ELECT 75 *RADIO TELEPHONE LICENSE 3 units 3 hours weekly Prerequisite: Completion of ELECT 40B, ELECT 60B, or ELECT 62B. A course designed to give the student a knowledge and understanding of FCC rules and regulations, skills to tune and adjust communication and broadcast transmitters, receivers and antennas, and associated knowledge required to pass the FCC Radio Telephone operators license exam. (AVC) ELECT 76 *INSTRUMENTATION ELECTRONICS 4 units 6 hours weekly Prerequ s te: Completion of ELECT 40B, and ELECT 62B. This study of electronics, gyroscopic, and other instruments used for detecting, measuring, recording, telemetering, processing, and/or analyzing different values of quantities as encountered in testing or operation of aeronautical and aerospace systems. (AVC) ELECT 77A INTRODUCTION TO MICROPROCESSORS 4 units 6 hours weekly Prerequisite: Completion of ELECT 40B, ELECT 60B, or ELECT 62B. This course is intended to give students an introduction to Microprocessors and Digital Computer. It will begin with the basic building blocks, i.e., Boolean algebra, logic gates and flip-flops of digital systems. The laboratory is designed to give students hands -on experience with integrated circuit versions of the building block for Microprocessor and Digital Computers. (AVC) ELECT 77B MICROPROCESSOR SYSTEMS 4 units 6 hours weekly Prerequisite: Completion of ELECT 77A. This course is a continuation of ELECT 77A. Instruction will include digital electronics of the microprocessor. In addition, the programming techniques of the microprocessor will be expanded and the student will write and debug programs using the SDK-85 Microprocessor Trainer. (AVC) ELECT 78A *REPAIR AND ANALYSIS OF VIDEO SYSTEMS 4 units 6 hours weekly Prerequisite: Completion of ELECT 60B or ELECT 62B. Basic theory and circuit analysis required for the troubleshooting and repair of modern solid state video systems using the NTSC signal. Emphasis will be placed on television and its associated systems. This will include any preventive maintenance, safety procedures, laws and regulations. Students will learn basic theory and component level troubleshooting techniques. The course is 50 percent lecture and 50 percent hands -on type experience in a laboratory environment. (AVC) ELECT 78B *REPAIR AND ANALYSIS OF VIDEO SYSTEMS 4 units 6 hours weekly Prerequisite: Completion of ELECT 60B or ELECT 62B. Basic theory and circuit analysis required for the troubleshooting and repair of modern solid state video cassette recorders, using the NTSC signal. Students will learn basic theory and component level troubleshooting techniques. This course is 50 percent lecture and 50 percent hands -on type experience in a laboratory environment. (AVC) ELECT 79 *INTRODUCTION TO AVIONICS 4 units 6 hours weekly Prerequisite: Completion of ELECT 40B, ELECT 60AB and ELECT 63B. A study of the specialized electronics devices used in general and civil aviation aircraft for navigational, distance measuring and weather sensing functions. The systems will be analyzed from an analysis/repair point of view. (AVC) ELECT 99R *WORK EXPERIENCE 1-4 units hours vary Prerequisite: Completion of 12 units of college work, and registration in a total of 8 units in courses leading to a major related to work experience assignment, and approval of instructor supervising work experience area. Provides combined related vocational classroom instruction with on-the-job employment experiences directly related to a students occupational objective. Students meet with instructor by arrangement to discuss experiences and or problems arising on the job. (CSU, AVC)
