Physical Education/Health Education/Intercollegiate Athletics 187 PE 32B ADVANCED BEGINNING WOMENS VARSITY VOLLEYBALL 2 units 10 hours weekly Limitation on Enrollment: Tryout required. This course is designed for the student- athlete who wishes to compete at the intercollegiate level in womens volleyball. The course will emphasize advanced/heginning womens volleyball skills and techniques. The student-athlete must develop the level of physical conditioning to successfully compete intercollegiately. The student-athlete will be instructed in the rules of the game and be required to abide by the athletic departments code of conduct. Total team strategy and teamwork will be emphasized. (CSU, UC, AVC) PE 32C INTERMEDIATE WOMENS VARSITY VOLLEYBALL 2 units 10 hours weekly Limitation on Enrollment: Tryout required. The course is designed for the student- athlete who wishes to compete at the varsity intercollegiate level in womens volleyball. The course will emphasize intermediate womens volleyball skills and techniques. An intermediate level of competition requires the athlete to possess adequate physical conditioning. The course is designed to assist the athlete in acquiring the prerequisite conditioning. All phases of intermediate to advanced offensive and defensive strategy will be presented. The course will teach the athlete the playing rules and code of conduct. (CSU, UC, AVC) PE 33A BEGINNING WOMENS VARSITY SOFTBALL 2 units 10 hours weekly This course is designed for the student- athlete who wishes to compete at the varsity intercollegiate level in womens softball. The course will emphasize fundamental skills and playing techniques indigenous to the game of womens softball. Physical conditioning is stressed, commensurate with competing at the intercollegiate level. The basic strategy, both offense and defense, will be introduced. The athlete will be instructed in the rules of the game and code of conduct. (CSU, UC, AVC) PE 33B ADVANCED BEGINNING WOMENS VARSITY SOFTBALL 2 units 10 hours weekly This course is designed for the student- athlete who wishes to compete at the varsity intercollegiate level in womens softball. (CSU, UC, AVC) PE 39BR4 *INTRAMURAL VOLLEYBALL 1 unit 3 hours weekly Basic techniques and skills in volleyball. (CSU, UC, AVC) Physical Education- Health Education Course HE 1 *HEALTH EDUCATION 3 units 3 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 50BR4 and ENGL 51BR2. A course designed to acquaint the student with the normal structure and function of the human anatomy as it pertains to: cardiovascular fitness, drugs, sexuality, infectious and noninfectious diseases. The course will enlighten the student as to the consequences of abuse and misuse of the body systems. Areas of study will include: physical fitness , nutrition, weight management, drug dependency, alcohol, tobacco, diseases, sexuality, mental health , stress management , consumerism, environmental health, dying and death.
