Page 96 of Antelope Valley College 1995-1996 Catalog by Antelope Valley Community College Lancaster CaliforniaCFE 80 *CHILD AND FAMILY EDUCATION SEMINARS CFE 80B *DAY CARE PROVIDER: INFANT/ TODDLER PARENTING STRATEGIES CFE 80C *DAY CARE PROVIDER: INFANT/ TODDLER PARENTING STRATEGIES 94 Child and Family Education social maturation processes as they apply to this unique and ever-growing type of family. Communication and relationships within and outside of the family are studied as well as interaction between the family and the community. (AVC) 1-8 units 3-24 hours Short courses of varying duration from three to twenty-four hours on specialized topics in parenting and family and child education. The courses are initiated in response to specific community needs and demands to provide specialized educational and skill experiences. They are designed so that students can acquire the topical and technical information required to meet the developing needs and interests in the area of parenting responsibilities. Credits earned in these courses are applicable as elective credit toward a certificate. (AVC) 3 units 84 hours total Advisory: Eligibility for College Level Reading, ENGL 1A and MATH A. This course will address the needs of day care providers and parents to learn accepted child care and child-rearing theory and techniques as it relates to physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth. Appropriate strategies for parenting the infant and toddler will be modeled and applied in a hands-on setting. This course satisfies the California State education requirement for infant care teachers. (AVC) 4 units 112 hours total Advisory: Eligibility for College Level Reading, ENGL 1A and MATH A.
