The Engineering Technology program has been matched to California State University, Long Beach, and to a lesser extent to Cal-Poly Pomona. Certificate Programs Drafting Technology Certificate The following courses (16 units) are required for the Level I certificate: COMM 15 (SPCO 15), Introduction to Argumentation (3) ELECT 15, Electronic Drafting (3) ENGR 19, Basic Engineering Drawing (3) MATH B, Plane Geometry (4) or MATH C, Intermediate Algebra (4) MATH D, Plane Trigonometry (3) The following courses (10.5 units) are required for the Level II certificate: CNST TEC 61A, Architectural Drafting (6) ENGR 25, Descriptive Geometry (3) WELD 70A, Blueprint Reading and Welding Symbols (1.5) The following courses (9-1 2 units) are required for the Level III certificate: CIS 42A, Introduction to BASIC Programming (3) ENGR 41/CNST TEC 61C, Computer Aided Design (3) Electives 3-6 units Electives: CNST TEC 61B, Architectural Drafting (6) or WE 98R, Cooperative Work Experience Seminar (1) ENGR 20, Intermediate Engineering Drawing (3) Engineering Aide/Civil Engineering Technology Certificate This program is designed to prepare the student to work as an Engineering Aide in industry. The following courses 17-19 units) are required for the Level I certificate: CIS 42A, Introduction to BASIC Programming (3) ELECT 15, Electronic Drafting (3) ELECT 60A, Electronic Fundamentals (4) or ELECT 62A, Electronic Fundamentals and Circuit Analysis (6) ENGR 1A, Plane Surveying (4) ENGR 19, Basic Engineering Drawing (3) The following courses (14-16 units) are required for the Level II certificate: ELECT 60B, Electronic Fundamentals (4) or ELECT 62B, Electronic Fundamentals and Circuit Analysis (6) ENGR lB, Plane Surveying (4) ENGR 20, Intermediate Engineering Drawing (3) ENGR 25, Descriptive Geometry (3) The following courses (13 units) are required for the Level III certificate: ENGR 15/MATH 11, FORTRAN for Engineers and Scientists (3) MATH 6, College Algebra (4) Choice of two courses from below (6) supporting courses: CNST TEC 61A, Architectural Drafting (6) CNST TEC 61B, Architectural Drafting (6) GEOL 2, Physical Geology (3) MGT 71, Elements of Supervision (3) WELD 61, Welding Fundamentals (2) (Courses in parentheses are former course numbers.) NOTE: Substitutions may be made for certain courses that may not be offered in the two-year period. Associate Degrees The major requirements for an associate degree in Engineering Aide/Civil Engineering Technology may be satisfied by completing a minimum of 18 units from the certificate program. Of these 18 units, at least 12 units must be from the required certificate courses rather than the supporting list of courses. (See Graduation/Associate Degree Requirements.) The requirements for an associate degree with an Engineering Technician major may be satisfied by completing a minimum of 18 units from the courses listed below.[close] |
