Engineering courses ENGR 1A PLANE SURVEYING 4 units 6 hours weekly (3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab) Course Prerequisite: Completion of MATH D and ENGR 19. Principles of surveying horizontal and vertical distances, angles and areas, calculations, field practice, mapping, use and care of instruments. (CSU, UC, AVC) ENGR 1B PLANE SURVEYING 4 units 6 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of ENGR 1A. Continuation of principles and methods taught in ENGR 1A with emphasis on precision and planning of the survey. More advanced field work is covered and problems are of a more complex nature. An attempt is made to provide opportunities for the student to continue development of technique of the use of surveying instruments. (CSU, UC, AVC) ENGR 1C *LAND SURVEY DESCRIPTIONS 3 units 3 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of ENGR 1A. Interpretation of land conveyance documents, w r i ting precise l egal descriptions for conveyance of public and private lands, history of land ownership and transfer of title, study of various types of documents of land conveyance, study of easements, value of monuments, research of recorded conveyance documents, Subdivision Map Act. (CSU, AVC) ENGR 1D *LAND SURVEY BOUNDARY CONTROL 3 units 3 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of ENGR 1A. Learn types of land titles and legal descriptions and laws governing titles. Student will study proper methods of locating sequential simultaneous and combination conveyances; the study of how to locate easements, learn a riparian and littoral rights, history of original survey and resurveys of sectionized lands; study proper methods to reestablish lost corners; have a working knowledge of the Land Surveyors Act and Board rules. (CSU, AVC) ENGR 10 ENGINEERING ORIENTATION AND BASIC SKILLS 1 unit 1 hour weekly Math Prerequisite: Eligibility for MATH C. An introduction to the profession of engineering and its relation to energy, resources, analysis and design; description of the various engineering disciplines, employment opportunities, college courses to be taken for the major both lower and upper division, and problem solving approaches in engineering. (CSU, AVC) ENGR 15 FORTRAN FOR ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS Same course as MATH 11. 3 units 4 hours weekly Advisory: Completion of MATH 7A or concurrent enrollment. A first course for Engineers and Scientists in programming using the FORTRAN language. The course covers matrices, vectors, coordinate transformations, algorithm development, computer graphics, solution simultaneous equations, and other numerical techniques. Supplies will cost student approximately $12. (CSU, UC, AVC) ENGR 16 PASCAL FOR ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS 3.5 units 4 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of Math 7A. This is a first course for Engineers and Scientists in computer programming utilizing the Pascal language. This course utilizes Pascal to solve engineering problems, such as numerical integration, roots of polynomials, and computer graphics.
