Same as AERO 49A, except possession of a commercial pilot license is required for credit. (AVC) AERO 49C *PILOTS INSTRUMENT RATING 3 units Limitation on Enrollment: Possession of instrument rating. Development of instrument flight skills required by FM for the issuance of pilot licenses and ratings. Students may receive credit for flight training completed in an FAA approved flight school. Antelope Valley College accepts no responsibility or liability for flight training obtained from any public or private institution. (AVC) AERO 52 *ADVANCED PILOTS REFRESHER COURSE 3 units 3 hours weekly Limitation on Enrollment: Possession of private pilots license. A presentation of films, slides, and speakers from NASA, FAA, and local instructors. Basic aerodynamics, advanced aerodynamics, engine and air frame maintenance f o r p i l o t s . A i r c r a f t performance charts, federal and military airspace, basic and advanced radio navigation. IFR navigation, departure, enroute, approach procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations. Aeromedical i n f o r m a t i o n f o r p i l o t s , a d v a n c e d meteorology for pilots, tours of ARTCC and FSS and tower operations. (AVC) AERO 69 AIRCRAFT GENERAL MECHANIC 3 units 3 hours weekly Limitation on Enrollment: Eligibility to take FAA written mechanics examination. Preparation for the FAA Aircraft Airframe or Powerplant Mechanics written general examination. Subject matter includes technical material relative to current practice and relevant FAA regulations. (AVC) AERO 70 AIRCRAFT AIRFRAME MECHANIC 3 units 3 hours weekly Limitation on Enrollment: Eligibility to take FAA written mechanics examination. Preparation for the FAA Aircraft Airframe Structures and Airframe Systems Mechanics written examination. Subject matter includes technical material relative to current practice and relevant FAA regulations. (AVC) AERO 71 AIRCRAFT POWERPLANT MECHANIC 3 units 3 hours weekly Limitation on Enrollment: Eligibility to take FAA written mechanics examination. Preparation for the FAA Aircraft Powerplant Theory and Powerplant Systems Mechanic written examination. Subject matter includes technical material relating to current practice and relevant FAA regulations. (AVC) AERO 80 *STRUCTURE ASSEMBLY 2 units 96 hours total Advisory: Aerospace/aeronautical or automotive mechanic experience, and Eligibility for ENGL 51BR2 and MATH A. Practical application of airframe assembly. Emphasizes methods of fastening, including layout, drilling, and riveting. Introduction to blueprint reading, corrosion prevention methods, basic assembly jigs, and standard shop procedures. (AVC) Airframe and Powerplant Program Courses AERO 80A *BACKGROUND FOR AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE 10 units 270 hours total Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 50BR4, ENGL 51BR2 and MATH C. The content of this course is to expose the student to the phases of aircraft mathematics, basic physics, basic electricity, fluid lines, and fittings, materials and processes. (AVC) AERO 80B *F.A.R. MAINTENANCE PUBLICATIONS, AIRCRAFT STRUCTURES AND FINISHING 10 units 270 hours total Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 50BR4, ENGL 51BR2 and MATH A. The content of this course is to train students in the processes involving cleaning a n d c o r r o s i o n control, maintenance publication mechanic privileges/limitations, maintenance forms/records, ground operation, weights and balance, and aircraft drawings. (AVC) AERO 80C *AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS, SHEET METAL, WELDING (formerly Aircraft Operations, Weights, Balance, Sheet Metal, Welding) 10 units 270 hours total Advisory: Completion of AERO 80B, and Eligibility for ENGL 50BR4, ENGL 51BR2 and MATH A. The content of this course is to inform and train students to become familiar with the techniques and operations involved with aircraft wood structures, fabric coverings, aircraft finishes, aircraft sheet metal works and welding.
