Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 097, READ 097 and MATH 100. Techniques of basic architectural drawing practices and engineering principles, construction methods, materials, building ordinances, and the preparation of working drawings for one-story wood frame residential construction according to conventional practice. Emphasis on problems involving planning, design presentations and a complete set of drawings for residential frame construction. Work performed in AutoCAD. (AVC) DRFT 150 *INTERMEDIATE 2-D AUTOCAD (formerly ENGR 42BR3/CNST TEC 65BR3, formerly ENGR 42B) 3 units 6 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of ENGR 120. Advisory: Eligibility for READ 099. This is an intermediate course in design/ drafting covering many facets of orthographic projection, dimensioning, sketching, section views, inclined surfaces, shop processes/materials and threaded fasteners. Research, planning and sketching will be done manually while all formal drawings will be done on a personal computer with AutoCAD software. (CSU, AVC) (R2) DRFT 230 *ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTING II (formerly CNST TEC 61B) 3 units 6 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of DRFT 130. Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 097 and READ 097. Techniques in architectural drafting are covered including the development of a complete set of plans for a two-story residential dwelling. Local and state codes, ASA and graphics standards are also included. Work performed in AutoCAD. (AVC) DRFT 240 *ELECTRONIC DRAFTING (formerly ELECT 15) 3 units 6 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of ENGR 120. Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 100, READ 099 and MATH 100. A drafting course intended particularly for electronic students. The following subjects will be covered: lettering (freehand and with templates) use of instruments and special templates, orthographic projection, pictorial drawing, dimensioning, schematic wiring diagrams, connection drawings, printed circuit boards, electronic symbols industrial standards, component and assembly drawings, and microelectronic drawings. Work to be performed in AutoCAD. (AVC) DRFT 250 *INTRODUCTION TO 3-D AUTOCAD (formerly ENGR 43AR3/CNST TEC 66AR3, formerly ENGR 43A) 2 units 4.5 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of ENGR 120. Using AutoCAD, this advanced course in Computer Aided Design and Drafting will require the student to make 2-dimensional views of objects and then correct them to 3dimensional wireframe models. The 3dimensional wireframes will subsequently be corrected to 3-dimensional solids. The student will also make solid models directly without wireframe conversion. (CSU, AVC) (R2) ENGR 115 *BASIC ENGINEERING DRAWING (formerly ENGR 19) 3 units 6 hours weekly Math Prerequisite: Eligibility for MATH 100. Introductory engineering drawing covering lettering, use of instruments and rulers, applied geometry, sketching, sectional views, orthographic projection drawings, simple auxiliary views. Computerized interactive software will be introduced (Computer Aided Design). (CSU, AVC) ENGR 116 INTERMEDIATE ENGINEERING DRAWING (formerly ENGR 20) 3 units 6 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of ENGR 120. A second course in engineering drawing covering fasteners, successive auxiliary views, pictorial drawing (including shading and exploded views), development, and working drawings. Work to be performed in AutoCAD. (CSU, AVC) ENGR 120 *INTRODUCTION TO 2-D AUTOCAD (formerly ENGR 42AR3/CNST TEC 65AR3, formerly ENGR 42A) 3 units 6 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of ENGR 115 or concurrent enrollment. Advisory: Eligibility for READ 099. This course is an introduction to the study of a-dimensional computer aided design/ drafting (CADD). The student will learn to perform on the computer all the skills learned in ENGR 115. This class includes lectures, demonstrations and laboratory practice. The student will gain experience in the preparation of industry quality drawings as a result of the training. Previous skills in computer operation are not required. (CSU, AVC) (R2)[close] |
