Page 176 of Antelope Valley College 1999-2000 Catalog by Antelope Valley Community College Lancaster California174 Film and Television An introduction to the fundamental techniques of pre-producing the short film or video project. Students will learn methods and techniques of text analysis, casting, budgeting, scheduling, storyboarding, fundraising, crew hiring, and legal paperwork such as permits and SAG agreements. Students will also learn creative problem solving and budgeting techniques designed to attain maximum production value on a limited budget. (CSU, AVC) FTV 243 *PRODUCING AND DIRECTING THE SHORT FILM 6 units 8 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of FTV 230 and FTV 240. A time-intensive, hands-on workshop which introduces the student to the methods and techniques of producing and directing the short film or video project. Students will work in film crew groups and rotate into each of the following positions: director, cinematographer, gaffer, sound recorder, boom operator, and script supervisor. Upon completion of the course each student will have a copy of his or her own short film or video which they produced and directed. (CSU, AVC) (R1) FTV 245 *EDITING THE SHORT FILM 6.5 units 8 hours lecture/lab, 1.8 hours lab Course Prerequisite: Completion of FTV 243. A time-intensive course which introduces the student to the fundamentals of non-linear picture and sound editing. Topics will include theories of editing, basic computer operation, editing software operation, the rough cut, the fine cut, dialogue editing, sound effects editing, music editing, sound mixing, and video on-lining. Upon completion of the course each student will have a copy of his or her own short film or video which they produced, directed and edited. (AVC) (R1)[close] |
