Introduction to design elements required t o p r o d u c e e f f e c t i v e m u l t i m e d i a presentations. This course covers the use of appropriate software applications needed to compress multimedia files for Internet and CD usage, effective screen and hard copy images for critique and portfolio presentation, and proper use of color management for Internet web pages. Additionally, it focuses on the use of essential design elements associated with multimedia productions needed to produce interactive media that is aesthetically rich and founded on principles of design that are artistically sound. (CSU, AVC) (R1) MM215 INTERNET WEB DESIGN AND PRODUCTION II 3.5 units 7.8 hours weekly (6 hours lec/lab, 1.8 hours lab) Course Prerequisite: Completion of MM 101 and MM 115. Advisory: Completion of ART 110, and Eligibility for READ 099. Instructional materials fee required for this course and must be paid at registration. Introduction to advanced Internet Web Site design. Focus will be on the advanced components required to develop interactive web sites. Areas covered within this course are the methods necessary to create frames, image maps, animated gifs, importing sound and QuickTime movies. Emphasis is on developing design techniques used to create projects and doing so independently and as part of a team. (CSU, AVC) (R1) MM 218 *JAVA FOR MULTIMEDIA DEVELOPMENT 1.5 units 3 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of MM 101 and MM 115 Advisory: Completion of ART 110, and Eligibility for READ 099 and ENGL 100. Introduction to the necessary fundamental elements of HTML and Java language for adding Java aplets to web pages. A central focus of the class is to introduce the basic fundamentals of Java aplets required to make minor modifications to existing Java Text, Image and Animation aplets, and to enhance the ability of the artist to communicate effectively to a professional Java programmer. This course is taught on Macintosh computers. (CSU, AVC) MM 225 VIDEO DESIGN AND PRODUCTION FOR MULTIMEDIA II 3.5 units 7.8 hours weekly (6 hours lec/lab, 1.8 hours lab) Course Prerequisite: Completion of MM 106. Advisory: Completion of ART 110, and Eligibility for READ 099. Instructional materials fee required for this course and must be paid at registration. Introduction to advanced video design and production methods for Multimedia. This course focuses on the integrated components required to develop a portfolio quality video. Areas covered within this course are the methods necessary to direct, produce, and light an interactive video production within the context of a working team and then the production. (CSU, AVC) (R1) MM 230 MULTIMEDIA PORTFOLIOS AND JOB SEARCH PLANNING 3.5 units 7.8 hours weekly (6 hours lec/lab, 1.8 hours lab) Course Prerequisite: Completion of MM 101. Advisory: Completion of ART 110, and Eligibility for READ 099. Instructional materials fee required for this course and must be paid at registration. Development of the skills associated with producing a portfolio and practicing interview techniques. This will help students prepare a physical and virtual portfolio that is focused on a specific job market, and to develop interview skills by participating in an interview. (CSU, AVC) (R2) MM 235 INTRODUCTION TO VIRTUAL REALITY 3.5 units 7.8 hours weekly (6 hours lec/lab, 1.8 hours lab) Course Prerequisite: Completion of MM 101. Advisory: Completion of ART 110, and Eligibility for READ 099. Instructional materials fee required for this course and must be paid at registration. Introduction to the production of Object Reality (OR) and Quick Time Virtual Reality (QTVR) 360-degree panoramic image environments for the Internet. Covers current software applications used in conjunction with digital cameras and other necessary hardware to develop both QTVR and OR objects linked on Internet pages. Both individual and effective team participation in the process of developing QTVR and OR projects is a control focus of this course. (CSU, AVC) (R1)
