Lee Bergthold 2079 James Gardner Lisa Karlstein 2089 Joe Lingrey 2093 Program Description The program develops competencies in black and white photography with an ability to print both black and white and color film from 35mm and graphic arts cameras. It introduces the student to the multiple elements of computer-photographic imaging using the Macintosh microcomputer. The program also allows the student to explore line photography, halftone photography, and three color separation techniques. Distinctive Features Photography and graphics courses are directed toward vocational and artistic application of the acquired skills within each of the designated areas. Career Options Journalistic Photographer Portrait Photographer Screenprinter Technical Photographics Certificate Program The following courses (31.5-32.5 units) are required for the certificate: ART 110, Drawing or ENGR 115, Basic Engineering Drawing 3 ART 298, Special Studies in Art (in area of specialization) or CG 246, Portfolios and Job Search Planning 3-3.5 CG 103, Computer Imaging I 3.5 CG 109 and CG 209, Photography 6 CG 113, Digital-Photographic Imaging 3.5 CG 115, Graphic Communication I or CG 233, Computer Newspaper/ Magazine Productions 3.5 CG 230, Intermediate Chemical- Digital Photographic Imaging or CG 111, Color Photography 3-3.5 Electives. from any of the following 6 Elective Courses ART 102, History of Art or ART 100, Understanding the Visual Arts 3 ART 210, Advanced Drawing 3 BUS 101, Introduction to Business 3 CG 102/ART 145, Design and Color 3.5 CG 230, Intermediate Chemical- Digital Photographic Imaging 3.5 ENGL 111, Creative Writing: Fiction 3 ENGR 115, Basic Engineering Drawing 3 JOUR 123/COMM 123, Newswriting and Reporting 3 JOUR l25/COMM 125, Photojournalism 1 MKTG 112, Intro. to Advertising 3 OT 101, Beginning Computer Keyboarding 3 Associate Degree The requirements for an associate degree in Photography may be: satisfied by completing the certificate program in a d d i t i o n t o t h e a s s o c i a t e d e g r e e requirements. (See Graduation/Associate Degree Requirements.) Transfer A Photography concentration is available through an Art major at CSU. Northridge. A student planning to pursue a bachelors degree should complete the following courses prior to transfer. Art Major-CSU, Northridge ART 101 and 102, History of Art 6 ART 110, Drawing or ART 210, Advanced Drawing 3 ART 145/CG 102, Design and Color 3.5 Art electives should be selected for purpose of satisfying prerequisites for upper division courses or for sampling potential areas for specialization. 6-10 NOTE: This information is based on the 1996 97 articulation agreement. NOTE: Requirements may vary at other institutions. Check the appropriate catalog(s) and consult a counselor. Prerequisite Completion If a course is listed as a prerequisite for another course, that prerequisite course must be completed with a satisfactory grade in order to enroll in the next course. Accorcling to the California Education Code [55200 (d)] a satisfactory grade is a grade of A," B, C, or CR . ATTENTION New Course Numbers Effective with the 1999-2000 academic year, AVC has adopted a new course numbering system. Former course numbers appear in parentheses after the new course numbers.
