Organic and inorganic methods of plant growth. Includes equipment and materials, soil preparation, fertilization, irrigation, pest control, plant structure, hydroponics and classification. Emphasizes the relationship of plants to their environment. (CSU, AVC, 2+2) AGRI 132 *TURF AND LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE (formerly LNDSC 81) 2 units 3 hours weekly) Advisory: Eligibility for READ 099 and MATH 100. Skills used in a typical landscape maintenance program with emphasis on turf and ground covers in the landscape. Including, but not limited to, planting and care of turf. Care and pruning of shrubs and trees will also be covered. (CSU, AVC, 2+2) AGRI 134 *PLANT IDENTIFICATION I (formerly LNDSC 73A) 3 units 3 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for READ 099. Study of common ornamental and native plants used in California landscapes. Includes the size, shape, growth habits and the landscape value of each plant. Approximately 280 trees, shrubs, ground covers, and annuals will be covered. A leaf collection will be required. (CSU, UC, AVC) AGRI 150 *LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION (formerly LNDSC 63) 3 units 5 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for READ 099 and MATH 100. Construction and repair of projects using materials and methods used in landscape construction including the use of concrete, masonry, wood and fencing. Discussion, as well as demonstrated manual skills, will cover various areas such as planters, patios, walks, etc. (CSU, AVC) AGRI 210 *ADVANCED LANDSCAPE DESIGN (formerly LNDSC 72B) 3 units 7 hours weekly Advisory: Completion of AGRI 110, and Eligibility for READ 099 and MATH 100. This course will involve completion of the landscape management certificate program. Theories of design, cost estimating, measuring and recording data, creating a total landscape plan, interviews with homeowners will be covered in this course. Students will be using computer assisted drafting. (CSU, AVC) AGRI 212 *INTERIOR PLANTSCAPE (formerly LNDSC 78) 2 units 3 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for READ 099. This course will study common plants used in interior plantscape. It will discuss how to use plants in the home or office, what plants are best suited, pests and diseases, and the environment needed to keep the plants alive. (CSU, AVC) AGRI 220 *LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION (formerly LNDSC 64) 3 units 5 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 100, READ 099 and MATH 100. Design, installation, and repair of residential and commercial landscape irrigation systems including low intensity irrigation systems. (CSU, AVC) AGRI 230 *SOILS AND PLANT NUTRITION (formerly AG 75) 3 units 5 hours weekly (2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab) Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 100, READ 099 and MATH 100. Interpretation of soil maps, plant nutrient requirements, fertilizers, their uses, value, and application will be studied. Practical experience in testing soils and plants. A term project involving knowledge Learned will be required. (CSU, UC, AVC) AGRI 234 *PLANT IDENTIFICATION II (formerly LNDSC 73B) 3 units 3 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for READ 099. Study of common ornamental and native plants used in California landscapes. Includes the size, shape, growth habits and the landscape value of each plant. Approximately 280 trees, shrubs, ground covers, houseplants, and annuals will be covered. A leaf collection will be required. The plants covered in this class are different than AGRI 134. (CSU, UC, AVC) AGRI 250 *LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT (formerly LNDSC 82) 2 units 4 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for READ 099 and MATH 100. Theories and practice in landscape drawings, interpretation of plans, cost estimating, and supervision of personnel. (CSU, AVC) AGRI 199 *WORK EXPERIENCE (formerly AC 99R4) 1-4 units hours vary Course Prerequisite: Completion of 12 units of college work, and registration in a total of 8 units in courses leading to a major related to work experience assignment, and approval of instructor supervising work experience area. Provides combined related vocational classroom instruction with on-the-job employment experiences directly related to a students occupational objective.
