Electrical Technology 157 ELEC 210 *INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICAL THEORY 4 units 4 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of ELEC 140. Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 099, READ 099, and MATH 100. Build on the students knowledge of electrical theory. Experiment with the interaction between magnetism, gen- erators, transformers and the AC circuit. Unravel the structure of electricity and electrical circuits. Determine the ampacity of conductors under various conditions of use. Practical application of electronics in an industrial setting. Construction require- ments of 3-phase systems, and electrical safety. (AVC) ELEC 220 *ADVANCED MOTOR CONTROL-PLC 4 units 4 hours weekly Course Prerequisite: Completion of ELEC 160. Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 099, READ 099, and MATH 100. Build on the students knowledge of electrical motor control. Close attention paid to the National Electrical Code requirements and NEMA requirements. Students will learn new electrical symbols theory and progress through such topics as circuit layout, control pilot devices, control circuits, reduced voltage starters, multi-speed controllers and expand on control concepts into the Program Logic Control (PLC) field. Formulas necessary to understand and work with the electrical theory and applications are presented as they are needed throughout the class. (AVC) ELEC 250 *ELECTRICIAN JOURNEYMAN REVIEW 3 units 3 hours weekly Advisory: Completion of ELEC 115, and Eligibility for ENGL 099, READ 099, and MATH 100. A series of tests and lectures intended for students and electricians who are preparing for the National Electrical Code (NEC) portion of the state journeyman exam. Provides a quick, easily understood study guide for those needing to update themselves on the NEC and the basic electrical mathematical formulas needed in the electrical field. Gain proficiency in the use of the NEC table of contents, the index and the ability to move quickly from cover to cover to find the answer to each question in a timely manner. (AVC)
