This course is
designed to improve

comprehension,
critical
thinking skills, and study skills through
reading and analyzing a variety of texts,
including
book
length
works
and
selections from various content areas.

READ 150 *SPEED READING
2 units
3 hours weekly
Advisory: Eligibility for READ 099.
A course for students who wish to improve
their reading speed, comprehension, and
vocabulary. Designed for those whose
work or professional training requires
extensive supplementary reading. Stress is
on flexibility in attacking a variety of
reading situations. (CSU, AVC)

This course provides early, supervised
field experience in the public schools to
develop
familiarity
with
literacy
development,
instruction,
classroom
management,
and
other
necessary
teaching skills. Students work one-on-one
and in-group settings with elementary
school children, under the supervision of
the classroom teacher. Recommended for
students interested in teaching elementary
