BMW Vario Panniers (saddlebags) feature an ingenious new capacity-expanding mechanism. The pannier mounting system is also revised and blends with the motorcycles lines when the bags are not in use. The left side case can vary from 28.5 to 37.5-liters while the right side case goes from 37 to 46 liters in capacity. This allows flexibility when packing for long rides or for the daily commute through traffic. In the contracted position, the bags offer a narrower profile than R 1150 GS System Cases while still offering more storage space. And when expanded, they have a larger capacity then even the R 1150 GS Adventure aluminum box panniers! At the heart of the new bags versatility is a mechanism with an interior U shaped handle pivoting on the left and right sides ofthe case. Simplyflip the handle from the top to bottom position to convert the bag from small to large capacity. The process is simple, smooth and solid. The panniers are suitable for off-road use and have a strong visual appeal. With aluminum side panels that add stiffness, durability and the enduro style BMW is famous for, they complete the GS package like no after-market bag can. 1] Vario Top Case BMW Vario Top Case utilizes the same expanding system as the panniers and can be quickly converted from 37 to 46 liters with one motion ofthe interior lever. A backrest is available for passenger comfort and two options are available for mounting. The top case may be mounted on the rear rack with the standard bracket available below. Alternatively, the case may be mounted in place of the passenger seat for better vehicle weight distribution when riding solo.
