Bedding Pads for
Street Use
Never drag the brakes if they are
equipped with metallic or carbon/
metallic pads. Only bed the pads once
the rotors have been seasoned.
1
Make two 60-15 mph stops to get
the pads up to temperature.
2
Perform two heavy stops, back to
back, from 65 to 5 mph, without
locking up th wheels.
3
Cool the brakes with 10 minutes
of highway driving.
4
Make three light stops in
succession.
5
Make eight heavy stops, back to
back, from 65 to 5 mph.
6
Cool the brakes with 10 more
minutes of highway driving, and
youre done.
Rotor Seasoning for
Street Use
This will heat cycle the rotor to relieve
if of internal stresses. Drive the car
normally for about five days without
getting on the brakes too hard. Do not
leave your foot on the brake pedal
when sitting at an intersection, as it
will not allow the rotor to cool evenly.
On the sixth day, we will begin heavy
braking.
1
Perform four light-effort 60-15
mph stops to get high heat into
the brake system.
2
Make four medium-effort stops
from the same 60-15 mph.
3
Let the brakes cool off by going
on the highway for about five
minutes without any brake use.
4
Make four medium-hard stops
(about 75 percent braking effort)
from 60-15 again, then let them cool
off with 10 minutes of highway
driving.
5
Let the car sit overnight for the
brakes to cool.
6
The following day, make four
more medium-effort 60-15 mph
stops (about 50 percent brake effort),
followed by five minutes of highway
driving to cool them down.
7
Stop from 60-15 four times with a
medium-hard pedal effort
(75 percent effort) and drive on the
highway for 10 minutes.
8
Make six hard stops from 60 to
15 to get the rotor temperature
anywhere between 900 F and 1100 F.
Try not to let the wheel lock up during
stops. Follow up with 10 minutes of
highway driving, and park the car
overnight.
