Acceptance into the nursing program does not guarantee successful completion of the program. Attendance at classes and clinical experiences, which means travel to many locations throughout Cochise County and elsewhere, is required. Experience in multiple clinical agencies is essential for completion of the program. Any possible legal impediment to licensure must be made known to the Nursing Department prior to assignment to a clinical agency. Acceptance into the program and/or successful completion of the program does not guarantee a license will be granted by the State Board of Nursing. * Elective: As required by the Nursing Department. COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER (CHW) The Community Health Worker Certificate course of study is designed to prepare the student for direct employment as a community health worker. CHWs serve as links between rural, medically underserved communities and the healthcare system. They provide outreach health prevention, advocacy, education and referral services within prescribed neighborhoods. Students must be available to complete 320 clock hours for the field work course. Placements are generally made within the students home community. Admission is open to any interested high school or GED graduate or students 18 years of age or older. Students must complete health screening and provide proof of immunization. Students are encouraged to meet with a program advisor before enrolling in the CHW program.
