northern peninsula rivers these small rivers of less than 100 km in length are not featured on our website as we can not sensibly access them from the main lodge due to the 3.5 hour drive for more details please telephone us this package is generally booked in advance but we can also gain access on demand for 2 to 6 rods mid week the lodge generally used is situated 20 minutes off the wilderness but paved road leading up the great northern peninsula of the island and is on the shores of high pond it provides access to 5 rivers within a short 10 to 40 minute drive it is 6000 sq feet and the lodge on high pond beautifully appointed in a wilderness setting on the famous river of ponds system with an independent power supply this area abounds with wildlife and moose caribou and varying hares frequent the property grounds the pond has breeding loons and large brook trout the 9 lakes within a 20 minute drive of the lodge have both brook trout and arctic char with 1 to 3 pounds fish being typical and 4 to 5 pounds considered trophy fish the lodge consists of 3 double bedrooms shared bathroom with tub and shower large dinning living and gaming areas as well as large decks dock flower gardens and gazebo torrent river this is considered one of the better catch rate rivers in the entire province anglers have access to the lowest 10km from the ocean only premium catch rates of 3-4 fish per angler per day are common on this primarily grilse river excellent wading board-walked trail to the pools and10,000 salmon in the run on this small river offer great sport locals anglers can be very prevalent on week-ends and pool rotating is common during peak season june 20th to july 15th but it fishes very well off peak season during late july and august when locals have killed their seasonal limit and many pools will not see a rod all day brook trout are limited island pool area on the torrent river big east this is a small watershed with excellent wading and walking with plenty of casting space it is a good 2sw salmon river with a high percentage of 9 to 12 pound fish and has a highly varied structure the river valley has no roads in it and access is by walking canoe or atv and some pools will not see a rod all season average catch rates are 2 fish per day and can be excellent after a rain brook trout are sea-run from late july through early august.
