405 Intermediate Jewelry
A course designed for level two jewelry students who desire to learn more advanced techniques in metal and jewelry working. The class will be highly individualized and allow students
to become proficient and more competent in specific technical processes. Emphasis is on creating and developing a portfolio of jewelry, and making slides for presentation. Prerequisite:
ART 305 or permission of instructor.

406 Advanced Ceramics
Studio practice in forming, firing, and glazing pottery and sculptural ceramics. Individual
instruction is emphasized, and individual interpretations are encouraged. Prerequisite: ART
306.

412 Advanced Painting
A course for level three painting students that allows them the opportunity to study and
expand their personal styles of painting and learn more advanced painting techniques.
Emphasis will be placed upon individual interpretation of class painting assignments. Students
must exhibit a heightened awareness and understanding of painting and exhibit control and
competence in three or more painting media. Emphasis is placed on developing a portfolio
with slides that exhibits versatility and proficiency in painting. Prerequisite:ART 312 or permission of instructor.

415 Printmaking
Designed for students who have successfully accomplished fundamental printmaking techniques. Students will work extensively in one printmaking process. Emphasis is on individual
instruction and in the production of several print editions. Prerequisite:ART 101, 104, 315, or
permission of instructor.

418 Intermediate Sculpture
In-depth concentration in one or more of the techniques covered in ART 318. Prerequisite:ART
318 or permission of instructor.

440 Intermediate Fiber Arts
A course based on competencies developed in ART 340. Students will continue advanced individual exploration of the fiber arts with expanded interpretation of the class assignments.
Emphasis is placed on developing a portfolio of work which includes slides exhibiting versatility and proficiency. Prerequisite:ART 101, 104, 340, or permission of instructor. Six hours,

450 Directed Study in Advanced Studio Problems
A course to provide students with the opportunity to research and explore individually
assigned problems in a selected studio area. Prerequisites are completion of appropriate lowerlevel courses and permission of instructor.

497 Senior Seminar
Each art major will demonstrate professional artistic competence and creative development in
the production of a portfolio. The portfolio will include 20 slides of the best work the student
has produced during the undergraduate experience. All senior art majors are required to present an exhibition of their work during their senior year. All students must complete a resume
detailing their preparation for a career in art.
