by Bill Price, with Paddy Hopkirk
foreword by Sir Jackie Stewart
Paddy Hopkirk, winner of the 1964
Monte Carlo Rally, is one of Britains
best-known rally drivers and made the
motorsport big time in Mini Coopers.
A disarmingly modest man, Paddy
originally approached BMC with the
plea, I do want to drive cars which
are capable of winning rallies outright,
even if Im not. From winning at a
1955 St Patricks Day Trial in a VW
Beetle to the 1990 Pirelli Classic
Marathon, won in a Mini Cooper S,
his glittering career is described in all
its glory, with lots of tales of amusing
escapades along the way. Inspiring and refreshing the

Porsche 917
The winning formula
by Peter Morgan
foreword by Professor Helmut
Flegl
The super-fast Porsche 917
dominated international motorsport in
the early 1970s. A racing car
conceived amid bitter family rivalry
and designed to win the world-famous
Le Mans 24 Hours race, the 917
became the focus of obsessive
ambition for all connected with its
development. After a brilliant victory
at Le Mans, where Porsche had been
campaigning unsuccessfully for 19
years, it won North Americas Can-Am
series two years running. Here is the
full story of the 917, recently voted
the worlds greatest racing car. A good one-stop source for the whole

The enduring champions
by Peter Morgan
This book chronicles the history of
Porsches all-conquering 956/962

debut year of 1982. The 956, and the
later 962, went on to dominate the
French classic for an unbroken run of
six years until 1988. During this spell,
Porsche also lifted the World Sports
Car Championship crown for five
successive years. Here is the full story

Porsche Moments
by Jesse Alexander
Legendary photographer Jesse
Alexander produced some of his most
indelible Porsche images between
1953 and 1962. During that time he
lived and worked in Europe, driving to
the races in his Porsche Super 90
coupe, which he bought directly from
the factory. He would return his car to
Stuttgart for maintenance, and this
increased his familiarity with Porsche
technicians and particularly with
racing director Huschke von Hanstein.
Thus began a strong relationship with
the people and drivers of Porsche,
which is reflected by the intimacy and
access of his photographs. Though
best known for his b w work,
Alexanders early colour work is also
featured in this book.

Porsche Prototype Era
1964-1973 in photographs
by Bill Oursler
In a highly focused ten-year period
Porsche sports cars went from being
regular but comparatively humble
class winners to completely dominate
international prototype racing. This
was a time of non-stop development
mixed with turmoil and success under
the direction of Dr. Ferdinand Piech,
widely considered one of the great
automotive geniuses of the modern
era. Starting with the fiberglass-bodied
904, which proved nearly unbeatable
during 1964 and 1965, this volume
provides a vivid photographic history
of Porsches relentless quest for
victory, including Le Mans in 1970
917 coupe, and then beyond to the
1,500 HP 917 Can-Am spyder of
Mark Donohue, which utterly crushed
its opposition in 1973.
