Page 3 of Design for our future selves 2001 Awards by Helen Hamlyn Research Centre - Royal College of ArtThis publicationintroduces the shortlisted projects in the Design for our Future Selves competition 2001, organised by the Helen Hamlyn Research Centre at the Royal College of Art. The competition challenges graduating RCA MA students to embrace socially inclusive design and involve users in their projects. It offers 5,000 in prize money and every short-listed entrant also receives 75 towards development costs from the Centre. Students were given four briefs to choose from two addressing the socially invisible groups of older people and young disabled people, and two investigating the challenges of work-life balance and urban mobility. The concepts and prototypes they have generated demonstrate how inclusive design can improve quality of life for all at a time rapid social change. challenge[close] |
