Page 37 of Design for our future selves 2001 Awards by Helen Hamlyn Research Centre - Royal College of Art35 Pierre-Olivier Garcia/Vehicle Design cubic: the moving architecture This project proposes a rental transport service available from travel and business centres in the worldfs major cities, where an artistic and historic context is important. The vehicle can be used as anything from mobile office to an interactive tourist taxi and a wheelchair-accessible runabout. Designed to give the user a perception of space and relaxation, it drives with a rudder, allowing one-handed parking manoeuvres, whilst containing current GPS, internet and voice-activated technologies. Exploration of various urban scenarios results in the possibility to connect the vehicle with other Cubic pods to move in a convoy or to plug-in to buildings to create elifts-parkingf.[close] |
