Page 45 of Design for our future selves 2001 Awards by Helen Hamlyn Research Centre - Royal College of Art43 Jochen Paesen/Vehicle Design SW7 A transport scenario projected for 2007 when investment has considerably improved Londonfs public transport, creating a more attractive alternative to the car. Many streets have become pedestrianised with access restricted to cycles, delivery vehicles and the SW7 taxi. The taxi is used as a edoor to doorf service for two people plus a driver, becoming a cocoon to transport children to school, or acting as a mobile office between meetings. Further uses envisage tourist applications and special privileged use for people with disabilities. The taxi is an extension of public transport, using a pass and point scheme to measure its usage and integrate it with existing travelcard schemes.[close] |
