Page 47 of Design for our future selves 2001 Awards by Helen Hamlyn Research Centre - Royal College of ArtMichael Saunders/Design Products a car for the city A car designed specifically for the crowded city environment, with the unique approach of designing the vehicle from the point of view of the pedestrian rather than the motorist. Specific attention has been paid to the short shopping trip it has a detachable boot that serves as a shopping trolley giving the user an easier task of transporting heavy goods. It also transforms from a horizontal position for driving to a vertical position when parked, so reducing the space needed and aiding access to and from the vehicle. The project arises from observational studies of traffic flow and car usage when shopping. 45[close] |
