Page 26 of Design for our future selves 2003 Awards by Helen Hamlyn Research Centre - Royal College of Art24 Athur Ali inside-out Amalan Arulanantham ne wear An evolution of the motorbike suit that integrates the comfort and safety of a car interior into protective clothing. A navigation system gives direction through earphones in the helmet and instructions are displayed on the visor when needed. A keyboard and screen embedded in the sleeve of the suit activate safety sensors and fibre optics for safer, more visible travelling. A wearable sleeping bag that can be used like a regular mummy-style sleeping bag, or worn as a long coat or jump suit. The sleeping bag mode is used for maximum thermal eficiency, and the suit mode for movement during breaks or activities requiring mobility. Of particular application to homeless people or those doing outdoor activities.[close] |
