Page 43 of Design for our future selves 2003 Awards by Helen Hamlyn Research Centre - Royal College of Art41 A campaign to raise awareness about air quality and carbon emissions in London that is based on four-metre-long typographic messages rubbed out of pollution build-up on surfaces around the city. The project reveals walls and tiles that have been hidden for years under Londonfs grey blanket of car-created pollution. Kirsty Carter Emma Thomas the grey blanket Matthew Dearlove phoenix street This project addresses the imbalance in investment between the arrival of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link into the remodelled Kingfs Cross Central gateway and the Somerstown housing estates and derelict squares that will stand in its shadow. A street-level strategy is proposed for station services and facilities to infiltrate the neighbourhood.[close] |
