LICENSING CERTIFICATION
ARCVIEW
This course is the foundation for becoming a successful ArcView user, and is designed for those who are
new to Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Fundamental GIS concepts will be explored including
querying a GIS database, manipulating tabular data, editing attribute data, presenting data effectively
using maps, and understanding the basic data "behind the scenes" of a map. Participants will learn how
to use ArcMap , ArcCatalog , and ArcToolbox , and will discover how these applications work
together to provide a seamless GIS software solution. Prerequisites: a working knowledge of windows.

WALKING TOUR:
"NATIONAL REGISTER SITES IN CONWAY"
With a guide from the Conway Visitor Center, you will meander through the downtown
historic district where you will spot National Register sites around almost every corner.
The walking tour will include a visit to one of Conways most beautiful churches, a
cemetery, a bridge, historic warehouses, the old county court house, designed by
renowned architect Robert Mills, an antebellum office building, and several houses.

First, Dr. Randall Wells, Professor of English at Coastal Carolina University, will chronicle
the history of the area through written and spoken memories in his new book Swamp,
Strand and Steamboat: Voices of Horry County, 1732-1954. In all, the book draws from

Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation
offers limited funding based solely on financial
need, provided no other financial assistance
is available. Scholarships are awarded on a
first-come first-served basis per semester.
Approved applicants may receive receive up to
half of the tuition, not to exceed $250. An
exception is Tractor/Trailer Truck Driving
where the award shall not exceed $500.
