1964 1/2-1966 POWER BRAKE CONVERSION KIT-ORIGINAL STYLE
1965-66 POWER BRAKE CONVERSION KITS-DUAL RESERVIOR MASTER CYLINDER
1965-66 Mustangs were factory equipped with a
single reservior master cylinder braking system. This
system worked well as long as there were no brake
fluid leaks anywhere in the system. A brake fluid leak
anywhere in the system could lead to a complete loss
of a all brakes, except the hand operated emergency
brake. For the 1967 and later model years, Ford Motor
Company eliminated this safety issue by utilizing a
dual reservior master cylinder with all braking systems
with a dual reservior system, should you develope a
leak in the front brakes the rear brakes would still
function. If a leak occurred in the rear brakes, the front
brakes would still work. Obviously a dual reservior
system is a much safer system.
K.A.R. has designed a dual reservior power braking
system for all 1965 and 1966 Mustangs. Unlike other
Mustang vendors who offer a firewall bracket, brake
booster, and master cylinder and call it a power brake
conversion kit, K.A.R. offers a complete, turn key kit.
Our kit contains all the fittings, hoses, and lines as
well as the bracket, booster and master cylinder. We
researched and sourced the fittings to insure that we
could provide the correct fittings for each application.
We designed the unique front to rear brake line to
insure that it would work perfectly with a dual
reservior system. We designed the correct master
cylinder to metering block lines for a proper fit. Finally,
before offering this dual reservior power brake system
to the classic Mustang enthusiasts, we actually
installed it on a 1965 Mustang convertible. The
installed system was thoroughly tested and performed
flawlessly. When converting a 1964 1/2 to 1966
Mustang with dual exhaust to a K.A.R. dual reservior
braking system, the rear axel brake lines and rear
brake flex hose must be correct for a dual exhaust
Mustang. The rear brake line mounting bracket must
be in the correct factory location for a brake lines or
rear brake line mounting bracket placement, please
