Ringtype cooling fan is quiet and efficient. Reliable shaft final drive is clean, quiet and requires minimal maintenance. Chassis The basic concept for the VN1600 Mean Streak look is long, low and sporty , with a styling package featuring a flangeless tank, triple-spoke cast wheels and straight handlebar. With plenty of polished aluminium and chrome componentry, this machine is already very close to being a true custom machine straight out of the factory. Riding position is like that of an American low-rider custom cruiser. Handlebar shape, hip point and footpeg position were all selected for optimum low-ride ergonomics. Double cradle high-tensile steel frame uses large diameter tubing for high rigidity and stability. The frame is based on the VN1500N with modifications to the area from the steering head to the side down tubes, front fork mounting and swingarm. Front fork is mounted 30 mm lower (compared to the 1500 Classic) due modified lower head stem. Fork offset of 35 mm also contributes to a lower bike. Seat height is a low 700 mm. Large tapered roller bearings are used in the steering head for high stability and high chassis rigidity. Sporty 43 mm inverted telescopic front fork provides first-rate compression and rebound damping, excellent steering feedback and surefooted handling. Shorter-length fork lowers the bikes profile. Guards protect against damage to the lower fork legs.
