MODEL FEATURES Engine The Vulcan 800 Classic boasts a quick revving V-twin thats just as happy cruising back roads as it is clicking through the gears on your favorite winding road. Compact, liquid/air cooled, 805cc, 55 V-Twin, SOHC engine is tuned for broad usable torque yet pumps out just a few less PS than the full size Vulcan 1500 Classic. Free breathing, 4-valve cylinder heads boost low end torque and provide maximum valve area for optimum flow at high speeds. Single overhead cam design is simple, lightweight, and practical. Reusable valve cover gaskets and sliding shim adjustment keeps service time to a minimum. Its a favorite among service technicians. Smooth and reliable, the gear-driven balancer allows use of single pin crankshaft without the heavy vibration. Rubber-mounted engine eliminates engine vibration at all speeds. Liquid air cooling comes from deeply finned cylinders and heads that combine with liquid cooling passages to provide exceptional thermal control. Automatic radiator fan keeps engine temperatures in check. Even running temperatures ensure long engine life and allows for closer engine tolerances for quieter running. Single, Keihin CVK 36mm, semi-flat slide carburetor is equipped with an accelerator pump for quick throttle response. A coasting enricher prevents annoying popping noises when decelerating. Large, 15 litre fuel tank ensures an incredible touring range. Transistor Controlled Breakerless Ignition (TCBI). Digital microprocessor-controlled timing is ultra-responsive to engine needs and never needs adjustment. Electronic ignition module features anti hot-wire circuitry to prevent midnight joy rides. Five-speed transmission takes advantage of the engines broad torque curve for great acceleration and relaxed highway cruising. The transmission features Kawasakis exclusive positive neutral finder that makes selecting neutral at stoplights a breeze. At a stop, just lift up on the shifter from first gear and the transmission stops at neutral every time. Chassis Compact design, tank-mounted speedometer complements the bikes clean look. The steering lock is on the lower triple clamp to make it easier to use. Self-canceling turn signals turn off automatically after a predetermined time or distance, whichever comes last. Uni-Trak rear suspension with single shock absorber has 7-way cam-type preload adjuster. Shock and linkage are tucked in out of sight to give the swingarm a clean, uncluttered look. Sleek triangulated, steel swingarm gives a hard tail look. Engineered for the right look and rigidity too. The result is style with handling precision and good tire and chain life. Many components are chrome plated for the right look including the engine covers, exhaust, headlight shell, fork covers, handlebar and holder, shock covers, and rear fender rail. Low, stepped saddle and pullback bars ensure laid-back riding comfort for two. Super low, 705 mm seat height puts both feet firmly on the tarmac. Chrome-plated, 48-spoke, wheels add classic retro shine to Kawasakis smallest cruiser. Large diameter, 41 mm, centre axle fork with thin wall tubes for light weight and exceptional rigidity. Smoothly controlled front wheel travel allows a boulevard ride. Drilled front disc brake with twin piston caliper, and polished spool wheel hub add style to the front end.
