Page 125 of Kawasaki Motorcycles by Kawasaki USAChassis As Kawasakis premium Z model, the Z1000 sports higher tech suspension components for more aggressive performance riding. Differences include aluminum handlebars, cartridge inverted front fork, aluminum swingarm, piggyback reservoir shock, and wider rims and tires. Rigid yet lightweight Diamond frame of large-diameter thin-walled tubes contributes to the Z1000s responsive handling performance. Engine is mounted as a stressed member for high chassis rigidity. Steering head uses caged ball bearings for light steering qualities. Inverted front fork with 41mm tubes delivers brilliant steering performance. This goodlooking unit is preload and rebound adjustable. Lightweight, rigid, box-section, extruded aluminum swingarm looks great and contributes to the responsive rear suspension action. Bottom-Link Uni-Trak rear suspension features a nitrogen gas-charged shock with piggyback reservoir, stepless spring preload and rebound damping adjustment. Ideal relationship between pegs, seat and handlebars gives a spacious and relaxed riding position that helps reduce fatigue, even on long highway rides. Naughty bikini cowl accentuates the bikes provocative lines. Dual, multi-reflector headlights enhance the Z1000s cheeky attitude. An optional single-seat cover gives the bike an even more performance-oriented image. Front, semi-floating, 300mm discs are gripped by lightweight 4-piston calipers for impressive braking performance. Rear disc brake uses a lightweight 220mm rotor with single-piston caliper. Wide rim widths and radial tire sizes are of Ninja origin, for great handling. Rim sizes: Front: MT3.50 x 17 Rear: MT6.00 x 17 Tire sizes: Front: 120/70ZR17M/C (58W) Rear: 190/50ZR17M/C (73W) Large diameter front and rear axles are hollow, for high rigidity and low weight.[close] |
