MODEL FEATURES Engine Liquid-cooled, 599cc, DOHC, 16-valve, four cylinder engine is ready to tear up your favorite winding road with 111PS 12,500 rpm. To decrease engine weight and improve heat transfer, the aluminum cylinders are linerless with chrome composite plated bores. Alternator, sump, cylinder head, clutch, and cam chain covers are magnesium to cut weight. Liquid cooling allows tighter engine tolerances for higher performance and reliability. The automatic cooling fan is on the left side of the curved aluminum radiator to save space. A liquid-cooled oil cooler helps keep the oil cool. Kawasaki Throttle Responsive Ignition Control (K-TRIC) adjusts ignition timing according to engine load for best power, fuel economy and detonation resistance. Digital TCB Ignition uses four spark plug mounted Stick coils to reduce overall weight, take up less room, and provide strong, consistent spark. TCBI module features anti hot-wire circuitry to prevent midnight joy rides. Four, semi-down draft, Mikuni BDSR 36R carburetors for precise throttle action, strong power output, and excellent fuel economy. Twin ram-air induction increases high speed power. The extended opening increases pressure in the system for excellent volumetric efficiency. Large 18 litre fuel tank ensures an incredible touring range. Smooth-shifting 6-speed transmission has adjustable pedal height for rider preference. The transmission features Kawasakis exclusive positive neutral finder that makes selecting neutral at stoplights a breeze. At a stop, just lift up on the shifter from first gear and the transmission stops at neutral every time. Chassis Lightweight aluminum perimeter frame features a short wheelbase and steep head angle producing quick, responsive handling. The main frame beams wrap around the engine from the steering head to the swing arm pivot for a strong, rigid chassis that assures good handling and durability. Fully-adjustable 46mm cartridge front fork is extra rigid for superb handling performance. Riders can custom tailor fork action with threaded ride height, 12-position compression damping, and 12-position rebound damping adjustments. Bottom-link Uni-trak rear suspension uses linkage ratios that offer smooth, linear suspension response. Extruded aluminum swingarm is lightweight and rigid. Piggy-back reservoir rear shock features threaded spring preload, 20-position compression and rebound damping adjustments. Shock mount is threaded for ride height adjustment. Six-piston opposed front brake calipers have aggressive pad material for excellent feel and bite. 300mm discs are 5mm thick to stand up to extreme use. Small 220 mm rear disc with lightweight, single-piston caliper produces quick, sure stops. Electric analog speedometer and tachometer are easy to read at a glance. Dash also includes a digital coolant temperature gauge, odometer, trip meter, and a clock along with the usual collection of warning lights. The handlebars are an easy reach and the nice flat seat gives comfort for long rides. The fairing and windscreen offer an easy ride with great protection from the elements.
