Page 175 of Kawasaki Motorcycles by Kawasaki USACHASSIS The Making of a Champion The new, all-aluminum perimeter frame is a composite structure comprising forged, extruded, and cast components. The construction method for each frame component is chosen with consideration for weight and strength. This yields a very strong structure but of the lightest weight possible. Forging Extrusion Casting The new aluminum frame offers a weight savings of 1.0 kg. The new all-aluminum frame locates the centre of gravity and key chassis dimensions (swingarm pivot, output sprocket and rear axle) such that squat is minimised. This maximises the rear tires ability to drive the bike forward. The engine placement is almost upright (forward lean angle is 3 o) to help place the bikes centre of gravity in the ideal position for maximum traction. Steering rake angle is 27.1 O.[close] |
