Page 177 of Kawasaki Motorcycles by Kawasaki USAThe new Uni-Trak linkage layout mounts the suspension arm below the swingarm, allowing a longer suspension stroke per wheel travel. This makes it easier to tune the suspension for various points on wheel travel positions. The Uni-Trak rear suspension action is initially soft, but becomes much firmer near full compression to prevent bottoming. The linkage ratios suit the new frame and swingarm. Extensive rider testing has determined the ideal linkage ratios and rear shock damping settings to achieve maximum rear wheel traction. The new rear shock features dual compression damping adjustability, allowing highspeed and low-speed damping to be tuned separately. Shock compression damping is 22 click adjustable for low-speed while high-speed damping is 2-turns or more adjustable. Shock rebound damping features 22 click positions. Rear spring is fully adjustable on its threaded collar. Rear suspension travel is a long 315 mm.[close] |
