Page 188 of Kawasaki Motorcycles by Kawasaki USASemi-dry-sump lubrication system keeps oil away from the crankshaft to reduce powerrobbing windage and contributes to a lower centre of gravity. The semi-dry sump stores oil in the transmission room instead of below the crankshaft. As oil drains from the engine components it collects in the crankcase, then a scavenge pump moves the oil to the transmission room. A reed valve between the crankshaft cavity and the transmission cavity prevents the oil from returning to the crankcase while still venting blow-by from the crankcase. More efficient oil pump rotors (for both scavenge and pressure) increase oil flow by approximately 20%. Newly designed, high-capacity Denso radiators deliver superior cooling efficiency. The new radiators are slimmer (so the shrouds can be narrower) and feature more tightly packed cores and a new fin design for enhanced heat dispersion. 2005 Model 2006 Model Right Left Side Side 2005 Model 2006 Model[close] |
