During acceleration and deceleration, the system makes adjustments to the 3D-ignition map, resulting in improved acceleration performance and smooth engine braking. Revised ignition timing improves top-end and over-rev performance. The digital AC-powered CDI ignition system features separate ignition maps for in gear operation and in neutral. In gear, the ignition timing raises idle speed in order to minimize the 4-stroke engine braking effect that can upset handling when entering corners. A neutral sensor engages a different timing map that reduces idle speed to a normal level which works in conjunction with the hot start lever to provide quick starting. New Lost Spark Control smooths over-rev power by precisely cutting spark as the engine nears redline. Spark gradually starts tapering off at 12,000 rpm before the new higher 13,500 rpm rev limiter is reached so that, unlike conventional systems, power does not abruptly cut-out when the rev limiter is activated. Acceleration Compensator circuit monitors changes in rpm and adjusts ignition map to prevent wheel spin and improve traction. New one-piece magneto rotor offers improved reliability. New stick ignition coil saves weight, eases maintenance, and offers improved ignition performance. Quick-shifting 5-speed transmission uses a ratchet shift mechanism for a light shift touch. Improved clutch feeling comes care of new friction plate material (higher m) and a new stiffer clutch spring. The result is a more direct feeling of engagement. The new clutch release lever design compensates for the higher spring rate. New transmission output shaft has a larger diameter 20 22 mm) and new transmission gear teeth have thicker bases to match the increased engine power. New output sprocket has a greater number of smaller splines for increased reliability. New change drum cam improves shift feeling. Shot peening treatment has been added to the kick idle shaft to improve reliability. 2005 Model 2006 Model 2005 Model 2006 Model[close] |
