Page 214 of Kawasaki Motorcycles by Kawasaki USAENGINE Quick revving, liquid cooled KX85 and KX100 engines share many parts including the crankshaft, transmission, and intake system. The KX100 achieves its larger displacement and wider powerband via its 4.0 mm larger bore (KX100: 52.5 mm; KX85: 48.5 mm). The piston has four lubricating holes at the wrist pin for added durability. Kawasaki Integrated Power Valve System (KIPS) varies exhaust port height for increased horsepower and torque throughout the rev range. New breather added to KIPS cover relieves exhaust pressure for more precise KIPS valve action contributing to improved high-rpm and overrun performance. Electrofusion coating on the aluminum cylinder provides rapid heat transfer, superb wear resistance and optimum lubrication retention for increased performance and durability. New intake port shape and revised cylinder skirt (intake side) allow cooling air into the crankcase chamber. 2005 Model 2006 Model 2005 Model 2006 Model 2005 Model 2006 Model[close] |
