FRESHMAN STUDENT ADMISSION
REQUIREMENTS
(High school graduates and transfer students with less than 14
transferable semester credits)
Regular Admission (1989 high school graduates to present)
All of the following must apply:
1. Proof of high school graduation with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
2. A minimum ACT composite of 17 or SAT combined
score of 690 (if under the age of 21).
3. Successful completion of the following established college admission standards set by the Idaho State Board of
Education:

Eight semesters of English
Six semesters of mathematics (Algebra or above)
Six semesters of natural sciences
Five semesters of social sciences
Two semesters of a foreign language or humanities

OVERVIEW
The mission of the Office of Student Life is to assist and support
students. Student Life focuses on the students emotional and
physical well being by providing services such as personal
counseling, health care assistance, and Disabled Student Services.
COUNSELING SERVICES
The counseling office provides short-term developmental and
preventive assistance for both full and part-time students at LCSC.
At any age, adjustment to college represents a major life transition.
Counseling is a learning process that assists students in taking
responsibility for their lives and education. Counselors are
available to assist students in:

clarifying values in order to make effective decisions

CHEM 353 LABORATORY PREPARATION
TECHNIQUES (2 CR.)
Techniques of solution preparation, chemical storage and management,
prevention of contamination, and quality assurance. One hour of lecture
and one 3-hour laboratory period per week.
Pre-requisite: a grade of C or better in CHEM 325.
CHEM 371 ORGANIC CHEMISTRY I (3 CR.)
Principles and theories of organic chemistry and the properties, preparations,
and reactions of organic compounds. Three hours of lecture per week.
Pre-requisite: a grade of C or better in CHEM 112.
CHEM 372 ORGANIC CHEMISTRY II (3 CR.)
Continuation of Chemistry 371. Three hours of lecture per week.
Pre-requisite: a grade of C or better in CHEM 371.

Tutoring in the mathematics laboratory or functioning as a teachers aide in
a lower division mathematics course. Pre-requisite: Approval of the division
chair. May be repeated for a total of 4 credits.

MTHPT 010 ARITHMETIC/PRE-ALGEBRA
(3 CR.)
Provides a solid foundation in those arithmetic operations and processes
that are fundamental to elementary and intermediate algebra. Prepares
students for MTHPT 103: Pre-Algebra/Algebra (T and I) and MTHPT 120:
Pre-Algebra/Algebra Workshop (BTS). Topics include whole numbers
fractions, decimals, percents, signed numbers, exponents and roots. While
the focus of the course is on both the why and how of mathematics, the
development of both critical thinking skills and real-world problemsolving techniques are paramo
