101 Lewis-Clark State College 2005-2007 Catalog CONTACT PERSON Director: Karan Morscheck, AA e-mail: klmorscheck@lcsc.edu Phone: 792-2259 Office: Clark Hall, Room 125 Phone: 792-2053 Fax: 792-2622 Web: http://www.lcsc.edu/reslife OVERVIEW Living on campus can enrich a students college experience. Students who live in campus residence halls typically find their college years more satisfying, are less likely to drop out, and often perform better academically than off-campus students. Living on campus also provides a student with extensive interaction with other students, and numerous opportunities to examine new ideas and values. Interpersonal skills and lifetime friendships can be developed. SERVICES LCSC provides living accommodations for students in three residence hall environments. The residence halls are relatively small which contributes to a more personal environment and greater opportunity for involvement. All facilities have easy access to the Student Union Building, food service facility, library and are within a short walk to any classroom building on campus. The residence halls are staffed with professional and paraprofessional staff. Extensive training is provided for the residence life staff in an effort to educate them with the skills necessary to relate well with students, to set a positive climate and to assist students in developing the kinds of programming that meet their needs. APPLICATION PROCEDURE 1. Request housing information from the Office of Residence Life, Clark Hall, (208) 792-2053, or apply on line at www.lcsc.edu/reslife. 2. Return the completed Housing Contract and $100 deposit to the Controllers Office. ROOM AND BOARD Room and Board rates are charged on a semester or academic year basis. A $15 residence hall activity fee is charged per semester. Contracting for a room in Clark or Talkington Halls requires that a student purchase one of three meal plan options. New students are placed in available spaces in the order that the college receives the Housing Contract and the $100 deposit. The Housing Contract, by itself, will not hold a room for a student. Upon receipt of the Housing Contract and the $100 deposit, the student will be informed of his/her status in relation to available rooms. Only a limited number of rooms are available each year. If more Housing Contracts are received than the number of available rooms, students will be placed on a waiting list. ROOM AND BOARD RATES, ACADEMIC YEAR CONTRACT The following rates are effective for 2005-2006 academic year and are subject to change without notice. For more information on financial policies as it relates to room and board payments and/or cancellations, please see the terms and conditions of the residence hall contract. SEE ROOM AND BOARD RATES ON PAGE 102. Each academic year, all residents must pay the initial semester rate during their first semester of occupancy. Only students who have lived in campus housing during fall semester are eligible for the continuing semester rate. ACADEMIC YEAR RATES To qualify for the reduced Academic Year Rates, students must reside on campus during both fall and spring semesters.
