Page 31 of Louisiana College 2002-2003 Catalog by Louisiana College, Alexandria-Pineville31 of credit examinations before initial registration, or credits which fit the student s chosen curriculum may be validated by the completion of at least 30 semester hours with a C (2.0) average. c. To complete a degree at Louisiana College, the student who achieves degree-seeking status after transferring from an unaccredited school must complete a minimum of 61 hours at Louisiana College. 4. Residence and Course Credit a. Credit transferred to Louisiana College carries the same level (lower level, 100 and 200, or upper level, 300 and 400) as that at which the course was taken. Students must complete 42 hours in upper-level courses for all bachelor degrees. b. Normally, credit will be allowed only on work equivalent to courses offered by Louisiana College. c. A student may earn a maximum of one-fourth of the total hours required for graduation in his curriculum by extension and correspondence. No more than six hours may be earned by correspondence. d. To receive a degree from Louisiana College, a transfer student must complete the last 30 hours in residence, and at least six of these hours must be from advanced courses in his major subject. In addition, the minor program must be approved by the appropriate department chairperson. e. At least 25 percent of credit applied toward the degree must be earned through instruction offered by Louisiana College. C. Returning Students A returning student is one who has been absent one or more semesters (excluding summer and special terms) and has not been enrolled as a degree-seeking student at another institution during this absence. Students who were on provisional or probationary status at the conclusion of the last semester they attended Louisiana College will return under the same status. 1. Degree-seeking status requirements listed above must be fulfilled. 2. All returning students must complete a Returning/Degree Seeking Student Application Form. Those who were academically ineligible to attend for one semester must be approved by the Admissions and Retention Committee prior to admission. 3. Additional items which must be provided before the end of the second week after the close of registration are: a. Dormitory Application: All applicants desiring college housing should submit an application for a room and a non-refundable pre-payment of $50 at least six weeks prior to registration. The dormitory application and prepayment must be on file and admission to the college granted prior to room assignment. Single students are required to live in a dormitory unless special arrangements are made. b. A report of medical history of all students and a Proof of Immunization for all students born after 1956.
