The study of the physical, intellectual, social and emotional changes in children from transescence through late adolescence, focusing on the dynamic relations between adolescents and their families, peers, schools and communities. Observations required. Credit three hours. (Fee $8) 295 Educational Psychology Required of all Teacher Education students. The application of psychological principles to the process of learning and teaching; emphasis on the acquisitions of understanding, concepts and skills, as well as development of a personal philosophy of education. Observation/participation required. Prerequisite: ED 190, 195 (for elementary) or 196 (for secondary). Credit three hours. (Fee $8) Student Teaching (ED) 415 Student Teaching in Kindergarten A six-week observation of and teaching experience with children are provided through assignment to the public kindergartens. Prerequisites: ED 301, 306, and requirements for student teaching listed on page 107. Credit three hours. (Fee $75) May be taken with elementary and/or special education student teaching. 425 Student Teaching in Elementary School An all-day observation and participation experience with children is provided through assignment to various grades in the public elementary schools. On-campus seminars, in addition to the regular student teaching assignment, are required. For prerequisites see requirements for student teaching listed on page 107. Credit nine hours. (Fee $125) 426 Student Teaching in Elementary and Special Education Observation of and teaching experience with regular education and special education children are provided through assignment to various classrooms in the public schools. (Fee $125) 435 Student Teaching in the Middle School Observation of and teaching experiences with youth are provided through assignment to various grades in the public middle schools in both the teaching major and minor.
