28 Santa Rosa Junior College Admission Requirements Regular student matriculation requires the filing of: 1. Application for Admission, provided by the Admissions and Records Office is available by October 1 for the spring semester and March 1 for the fall semester. Furnish required information and evidence of residence so that legal residence can be determined. Furnish social security number for identification purposes. Students who do not have this number should obtain one several weeks in advance of the application deadlines. 2. Official transcripts of all previous schooling should be sent directly to the Admissions and Records Office for counseling purposes. In person submittals must be currently issued and received in a sealed envelope from the issuing college. Transcripts will be evaluated upon request. Transcripts will be required for graduation. All transcripts become part of the student's permanent record and will not be released to other institutions. a. High school (seven-semester transcript acceptable for students currently enrolled in high school). High school transcripts are not required of transfers who have completed 12 or more college units. b. Community college and four-year college transcripts. 3. Copy of separation papers or documented Basic Training for military reserve members, if evaluation of credit is desired. Contact the Admissions and Records Office for additional information. 4. Test scores Santa Rosa Junior College English placement test (APS) is required for placement in an English class. Not required of transfers who have completed an equivalent English composition course. The Math, College Skills and English as a Second Language Departments also have required placement tests. The results of tests are used in placing students in appropriate courses. Application forms to take tests and other details may be obtained from the high schools or the Assessment Services Office. It is the students responsibility to have scores sent to Santa Rosa Junior College if such tests are required for particular areas or courses of study. High School Enrichment Students High school enrichment students (those enrolled in a local high school at the ninth, tenth, eleventh or twelfth grade level and wishing to enroll in classes at the Junior College) are required to submit the Application for Admission for each semester the high school student enrolls. Also required is the High School Enrichment Form signed by the high school principal, approving the students enrollment at the Junior College. Students wishing to enroll for summer courses must have completed the eighth grade. Parental consent is required on the High School Enrichment Form. The College reserves the right to restrict enrollment in specified courses or departments. National League for Nursing Pre-Nursing Test Required of all applicants for the Associate Degree Nursing Program in addition to the required placement test for entrance to Santa Rosa Junior College. Refer to individual program information for test requirements for other Health Science programs. Residence Requirements Any person enrolling in Santa Rosa Junior College is subject to the residency requirements determined by the Education Code of the State of California. Residence is classified as follows: Resident student: A resident student is one who has a legal residency in California for more than one year immediately preceding the beginning of the semester and who demonstrates the intent to remain. Nonresident student: A nonresident student is one who does not have legal residence in California for more than one year immediately preceding the beginning of the semester. Such students are required to pay a tuition fee. District student: A district student is one who has established legal residence in a California community college district. Non-District student: A non-district student is one who does not have residence within a California community college district. All new students will be required to file an application and statement of residence. Determination of In-State Residency A resident is a student who has residence in California for more than one year immediately preceding the opening day of instruction and has demonstrated an intent to remain. Demonstration of intent is attained by filing California State Income Tax forms or registration to vote in state and local elections or other reasonable evidence of permanent stay in California, such as vehicle registration, work documentation, etc..
