equipment belonging to the College must be returned and
all loans or student obligations must be paid before the
Records Office will certify good standing or transmit
student records to another institution. Good standing
means that a students conduct has been satisfactory and
that he/she is eligible to continue or return.
A student unofficially withdrawn (without completing
proper withdrawal procedures) from a class or from College
will receive a grade of F in all courses from which he/
she unofficially withdraws.
Enrollment records are not maintained for students who
cancel their registration prior to the fourth week of the
semester.
NOTE: Withdrawal means dropping all classes; dropping refers to
selective drops while retaining one or more other courses.
(Priority 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Some students will have to plan
their registration carefully so that their priority
enrollment is not greater than 16 units.
2. Continuing students may register up to the 20 unit
limit immediately after priority registration is over.
Hence continuing students can increase units when open
registration begins. Since most new student registration
begins with the open registration period they will be able
to register for 20 units even at initial registration.
3. Students may petition to exceed 20 units. Evidence of
ability to succeed in units exceeding 20 units is required,
such as: cumulative GPA of 3.0; 75% of grades are
positive progress; good academic progress standing;
other special documentation; counselor/faculty
recommendation.
Work Study Loads
Students working part-time should limit their college
load. It is recommended that students who work part-time
should follow these proportions in distributing their time
per week:

Unit Defined
One lecture hour and two hours of outside work per
week throughout the semester ordinarily serve as a basis
for one unit of credit. The weekly number of hours required per semester unit of laboratory or other activity is
approximately three, depending upon the character of
work. Thus, one semester credit hour of community,
college work should be approximately 48 hours of lecture,
study, recitation, demonstration-discussion and laboratory
work or any combination thereof.
Withdrawal From College
To withdraw officially before the end of the semester, a
student should notify the instructor. Call TLC Express using
a touch-tone telephone or fill out and turn in an Add /
Drop Form available at the Admissions and Records Office.
The instructor's signature is required for Work Experience
and Chemistry classes. See the current Schedule of Classes
for withdrawal deadline.
