AUTO 54 Automotive Chassis 3 units/3 hours lecture. Grade only Corequisite: Auto 54L. Recommended: Auto 350 350L or H.S. Auto. Lecture, demonstration, and study of the complete auto chasis with emphasis on brakes, suspension and steering. (CSU) May be taken or a total of 6 units within 4 semesters. AUTO 54L Automotive Chassis Lab 3 units/8 hours laboratory, 1 hour by arrangement. Grade only. Corequisite: Auto 54. Recommended: Eligibility or English 100A or equivalent Practical experience in a laboratory situation in the service and repair of the complete auto chassis with emphasis on brakes, suspension, and steering. (CSU) May be taken for a total of 6 units within 4 semesters. AUTO 55 Automotive Fuel Systems 3 units/2 hours lecture, 4 hours laboratory. Grade History and development of auto fuel systems. Basic repair and adjustment of standard and electronic feedback carburetors and electronic fuel injection systems. (CSU) AUTO 56 Automotive Electrical System 3 units/2 hours lecture, 3 hours laboratory. Grade only. Recommended: H.S. Auto or Auto 350 350L or trade experience. Fundamentals of automotive electrical and electronic systems including service and repair of starting, charging, and other chassis electrical systems. Introduction to computer controlled systems. fulfills the automotive electrical prerequisite of the 120 hour clean air car course. May be taken for a total of 6 units within 4 semesters. AUTO 98 Special Studies in Auto Mechanics 1 unit/3 hours by arrangement. Grade only. Seminars or individual conferences by arrangement to provide for independent study and enriched academic experience. (CSU) Independent study including 49 and 98 courses 6 unit total. AUTO 305 Automotive Air Conditioning Heating Systems Service (Formerly AUTO 205) 1.5 units/3 hours lecture for 8 weeks. CR/NC option. Recommended: HS Auto or Auto 350 350L or employment as an Auto Technician. Theory, service, and repair of many types of automotive air conditioning heating systems; care use of tools equipment. May be taken for a total of 4 units within 4 semesters. AUTO 350L Automotive Fundamentals Lab (Formerly AUTO 50L) 2 units/1 hour lecture, 3 hours laboratory. CR/NC option. Prerequisite: Auto 350 or equivalent Corequisite: Auto 350 Recommended: No recommended preparation. Knowledge of the use of basic hand tools, shop safety, and an overview of repair and maintenance. May be taken for a total of 4 units within 4 semesters. AUTO 399 Selected Topics in Auto Tech 0.5-2 units/up to 1 hour lecture, 2 hours laboratory. CR/NC option.
