The main components of the MESA CCCP
program include:
MESA Orientation Courses that teach college survival
skills to incoming students and transfer-ready students
A MESA Student Study Center, a dedicated multipurpose
space on campus for studying, workshop presentations
and information sharing Academic Excellence
Workshops where students are scheduled in the same
core math and science classes and taught how to
maintain high academic outcomes through group study
Career Advising to introduce work options to students
Field trips, job fair information, job shadowing exercises,
and industry mentors are available to students.
Assistance in the transfer process including field trips to
universities, workshops on applications and counseling
Links with student and professional organizations that
provide mentors, guest speakers and offer industry tours

Plover Library and Media Services
The Library is located at the north end of the campus on
Elliott Avenue facing Emeritus Hall. It houses a book
collection of 113,000 volumes, an excellent collection of
periodicals, a comprehensive reference collection,
computer-based information sources and collections of
textbooks, college catalogs, telephone books, pamphlets
and government documents.
Media Services is located in the Library and has a
collection of compact discs, records, cassettes and
materials used in instruction such as video cassettes,
films, slides and filmstrips. Students can view assigned
video materials at the Media Services circulation counter
and also listen to recorded music or spoken materials.
Cassette and compact disc players are available for inhouse listening. Photo identification is required. Media
Services are available for students Monday through
Thursday, 9:00 A.M. 10:00 P.M., Friday, 9:00 A.M. 5:00
P.M., and Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Librarians teach several courses on bibliographic and
information search procedures. Introductory, self-paced
courses are offered for students who wish to learn how to
do library research. More advanced courses which deal
with the literature of specific fields, computer-based
information search strategies, and the Internet are also
offered. One-hour sessions explaining how to use the
library are offered frequently each semester.
The Library is housed in an attractive building, which
provides a variety of individual and group study spaces.
In addition to the reference area, there is a periodicals
reading area with current newspapers and magazines, a
reserve book desk which provides required reading
materials for many courses, a large classroom/media
viewing room, seminar/group study rooms, and a
microfilm/microfiche reader-printer area.
During the semester, the library is open Monday through
Thursday from 7:45 A.M. 10:00 P.M. On Friday, the
library is open 7:45 A.M. 5:00 P.M, and on Saturday and
Sunday, the library is open from 12:00 noon 5:00 P.M.
During the six-week summer session, the library is open
Monday through Thursday from 9:00 A.M. 3:00 P.M., on
Monday and Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. In
summer the library is closed weekends. The library is also
open some days during Spring break and has extended
hours during final exams. For changes in library hours
or for holiday schedules, call 527-4549, check the Bear
Facts or the hours posted at the entrance of the library.
Puente Project
The Puente Project is a program of English writing
instruction, counseling, and mentoring for community
college students who plan to transfer to a university.
The program involves a two-semester sequence of
Reading/Composition and Guidance courses that focus
on the Chicano/Latino experience. Members of the Latino
professional community provide mentoring. Additional
program activities are designed to help students
participate fully in academics and career preparation.
Students are admitted to the program each year through
a process, first come first serve. Students must be eligible
for English 100A/B based on assessment or prerequisite
coursework. Students must also enroll in designated
counseling courses and demonstrate commitment to
transfer and to participation in program activities for one
full year. Computer literacy and word processing
instruction, including emphasis on desktop publishing
skills and Internet research, are part of the curriculum.
Puente is a joint project of the California Community
Colleges and the University of California, with programs
on 40 community college campuses statewide.

Reentry Services
Reentry Services provides information and assistance to
returning adults (approximately 25 years of age and
older) who are beginning or continuing their college
education. Reentry can be the first step in the process of
returning to college. Services to assist with this process
include:
Initial in-depth orientation sessions held twice weekly
Academic and career counseling Classes in Study Skills,
Career Development and College Survival Workshops,
transfer seminars Parent Locator Video and book lending
library Campus and community referrals
By utilizing these services, adult learners can reenter
college with a minimum of difficulty and successfully
attain their chosen goal.
Reentry Services is located adjacent to the Cafeteria in the
Doyle Student Building, facing Elliott Avenue, and is
open Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. and
Wednesdays until 7:30 p.m.

Student Activities
Student Activities Office
The Student Activities Office (SAO), the hub of all student
activities at Santa Rosa Junior College, is located at the
north end of Pioneer Hall. It houses the offices of the
Director of Student Activities, Activities Advisor, Associated
Students Administrative Assistant, Typist Clerk, President
of the Associated Students and other student officers. This
office coordinates the extracurricular and co-curricular
activities of students, the Associated Students, campus
clubs, and ad hoc committees. In addition, the Student
Activities Office organizes Club Day, Used Book Fair,
Student Elections, Blood Drives and many other activities.
The Student Activities Office supervises the publication of
the Calendar of Events and the daily Bear Facts. The
office has a free local phone, housing board and
mailboxes for student government officers and student
members of college committees.
The Student Activities Office is the place to go for general
information and assistance, locker rentals, International
Student I.D. cards, Club Banking and the Student Voice
Box. The Student Activities Office also has many
handouts about College services and a helpful staff. The
Student Activities Office has two mottoes: Were here to
help. And, If we dont know, well find out.
Doyle Student Center
Doyle Student Center, a major part of the Student
Activities complex, houses the Cafeteria, the Bears Den,
the Student Lounge, the Student Cyber Room, the Staff
Lounge, the Reentry Office, and the campus ID function.
Associated Students
The Santa Rosa Junior College Associated Students are
the members of the student body who have joined the
Associated Students by paying a membership fee every
semester. When you join, you are entitled to free or
lowered admission to all home sporting events, dances,
and other events. Members also get a seven-dollar
discount on parking fees and a two-dollar discount on
motorcycle parking. They also can receive discounts up to
forty percent from many local merchants. Another benefit
of membership is the eligibility to run for one of the
many student government offices. Members are also
eligible for an emergency loan from the revolving book
loan fund or the Associated Students short-term loan
fund.
The Associated Students is active in the campus
community and gives financial support to many
programs on campus that benefits students. They support
in part or in total the following programs/services:
Intercollegiate athletics, supportive physical education,
spirit team, forensics team, aggie judging team, Santa
Rosa Junior College Childrens Centers, ethnic programs,
Enabling Services, the band, the choir, theatre arts, the
art gallery, noontime entertainment, art and lectures,
campus project/event grants, and much more.
The Associated Students is governed by the Student
Government Assembly, which is the legislative body of the
student government on campus. The officers are elected
by the student population-at-large during elections each
Spring. Any student who is a member of the Associated
